Our founders, in the spirit of Jesus feeding the five-thousand, wished to serve people in need, with no religious test for being helped.

Our shared work is to provide mercy for those facing poverty-related crises, and to provide education that can prevent future crises.

The goal is to keep people safe and secure in their homes; with access to safe drinking water, sanitation, heat, and electricity.

How do we accomplish this?

Rental Assistance: For eligible households we can provide relief funds for those who are behind on their rental payments for an apartment or rental house.

We direct our funds towards the neediest of those in need, and prioritize those facing eviction notices. To resolve large amounts owed, we can sometimes team up with other agencies and ministries to try and resolve the crisis in rent owed.

Utility Assistance: For eligible households we can provide utility assistance funds for those who are behind on their utility payments for water, sewer/sanitation, electricity, and natural gas. We direct our funds towards the neediest of those in need, and prioritize those facing utility shut-offs. To resolve large amounts owed, or to address a crisis involving multiple utilities, we can sometimes team up with other agencies and ministries to try and resolve a larger or more complicated crisis in money owed to utilities.

Education Programs: Throughout each year we schedule a number of educational, community programs, focused on the needs of vulnerable populations. These vulnerable populations have included seniors, grand-parents raising grandchildren, families that have a family member coping with an addiction, and former prisoners re-entering the community. The content of these programs can be designed to provide mutual support, encourage hope, and/or to equip people with knowledge and skills to better empower the stability of their household.

Pearl’s Kitchen Table: Named for the daughter of a former client who transitioned out of homelessness, Pearl’s Kitchen Table is a set of specialized assistance programs for women.  Some are women with children transitioning out of homelessness.  Others as women with or without children transitioning out of situations with domestic violence.  The overall goal of these programs is to assist these women with re-establishing their lives.. In addition to rental and utility assistance for women re-establishing themselves in their own rental housing, eligible women may also be qualified to receive temporary assistance with bus passes, and/or clothing required for work. For this program, we also frequently facilitate referrals for additional services with other non-profits in our community.

Referrals: Often families in crisis are unsure where to go when they need help. When they contact us with a need we can not directly address, and we know of other organizations that focus on those needs, we help that family get in contact with the relevant organization.

Other Programs: From time to time we get short-term funding or donations to address other specialized needs, or specific vulnerable populations. Please contact us to learn about any specialized, shorter-term programs.
